Pupil Ethos Group
The Pupil Ethos Group, or PEG, is made up of two representatives from each class. As a group, we meet weekly to explore our School's Christian Values and the ways in which our ethos can impact our school community. Our PEG representatives are also Mental Health and Wellbeing Ambassadors and are part of the school-wide team including children, parents, staff and a designated Governor who consider issues that impact the wellbeing of those in our school community and how we can support all in and around our school to have positive mental health. PEG aim to provide a listening ear for those that need to talk and provide company for those that need a friend. PEG support the preparation of community events such as South Molton Carnival and are central role models who demonstrate our Koinonia values such as friendship and compassion each day.
Each year, Pupil Ethos Group work together to implement new ideas into our school. This year, they have been working on:
- Creating postcards to go home to celebrate children's successes.
- Selecting new and exciting songs for whole-school singing in Collective Worship.
- Creating reflection spaces, including prayer books, in each classroom.
- Ensuring our school is free of litter and encouraging others to keep our school clean and tidy.
As we move into the summer term, PEG would like to focus on how we support reflection and calmness outside the classroom. They would like to:
- Create calm, reflection spaces outside.
- Research the installation of outside seating.
- Create habitats for a variety of wildlife.
- Setup clubs, such as birdwatching, to encourage children to notice and admire the wildlife around our school.
