Primary Jaguar Challenge - 2019

The Jaguar Primary School Challenge is a STEM competition, open to students aged 6-11 years old and involves designing and manufacturing the fastest car possible within a set of rules, following the design and engineering processes employed by real engineering companies like Jaguar Land Rover. The children research, design and create model racing cars, learning about aerodynamic forces, efficiency, mathematics and the principles of design. The teams are also given the chance to experiment with the electrification of their vehicles, considering the design considerations of using alternative energy sources.  They then compete to be crowned National Champions, producing design portfolios, presenting to the judges and culminating in the ultimate test of speed with a pulsating head-to-head race.

The Jaguar Primary School Challenge is your first step on the road to becoming a real Engineer one day... So belt up for the journey of a lifetime!

As part of this competition the children have to write to sponsors to fund their engineering project.

Our Sponsors this year were: Eaton, Blue May Weston, Brey Leino, Belly Fender, KC Cooling, Blue Orange and Evans and Co Accountants.

Our last year team of four girls (The Wacky Racers) from the school were runners up at the Regional Finals which sent them to the National Finals in May 2018.  Although they did not win a prize, they performed credibly and learned a lot.

This year the teams raised £860 and Eaton donated a 3D Printer to the school to enable them to make the various parts that they needed. The company also donated the time of 3 Apprentices to assist and a member of staff to support their learning journey.
