ASH CLASS UPDATE SUMMER TERM 2023

News from Ash May 2023

We've all come back to school after the Easter Holidays feeling fresh and ready for this busy term ahead!

In Maths we are learning fractions! We will then move on to telling the time, before we then go over what we have learnt throughout the year for our SATs!

In English we are going to explore the book 'Where My Wellies Take Me...' by Michael Monpurgo. The book is about a girl who goes on an adventure, there are lots of descriptive phrases and exciting vocabulary that we are going to use in our writing. We are then going to innovate the book and change parts to fit to our trip at Hakeford Woods, writing about where our wellies took us.

Our phonics and spellings, learning alternative graphemes, has helped us to become more accurate with our spellings along with our handwriting to make our sentences look awesome to read! We are learning lots of spelling rules to help us become accurate spellers too.

We have shown excellent P.E skills and this term will be practising tennis-  sending and returning. I think Ash class will really enjoy this and will display great partner work.

There are many artists in Ash class, we are looking at Picasso at the moment and creating our own portraits using his cubism technique along with experimenting with bold and fine lines. They are really enjoying playing around with facial features and where to place them in their portraits.
