My name is Kevin O’Donnell and I am the Head Teacher.

Hello. I am Angela Hulme and I have been a Foundation Governor for 35 years, during which time I had the privilege to be Chair for 20 years. During this time there have been many changes, not only in our school, but in education and the roles of governors!  

Our three daughters were educated at the Infant and Junior schools and the Community College before going on to North Devon College (now Petroc) and higher education. They had happy memories of their time in school and I hope this is so for all our pupils.  

I very much enjoy being able to go into school to help with various activities and to get to know our children better. I consider it a privilege to work with our dedicated staff to ensure that our children are given the best education possible. 

Hi my name is Andrew Woollacott. I was a Local Authority Governor and Chair of the Resources Committee at the school, and am now an Associate Member. 

I have three daughters of which our youngest still attends the school. My work in the agricultural industry often takes me around the UK but when at home I like to take a keen interest in local issues . For fun and fitness I'm a member of the South Molton Strugglers running club and can occasionally be found struggling up a hill.  

SMUPS provides a great learning platform for children who live in or near South Molton. In order to support the school I volunteered for the role of governor and then Associate Member where I can participate in the running of the school and contribute to its progress. 

Hi. My name is Gill Haynes and I was originally a Parent Governor, but am now an Associate Member. 

I have been a secondary maths teacher for over 20 years in schools in Shropshire, Birmingham and Devon. I have also worked in industry, training teachers how to use IT educational software across the country. 

I want to use my educational background to support the school and become a bridge between the school and parents. 

Hello, my name is Trish (or Trisha) Ford and I have been a Foundation Governor for several years. I am a retired teaching assistant and live in the rural catchment area for this school. I am committed to helping ensure the best education for our local children in a happy and welcoming environment. 

Hi! I don’t often use my full name, so you probably know me as Lis! I have lived in South Molton for about ten years, and became a Foundation Governor at the school in 2016. It has been a privilege to serve as Vice-Chair, and subsequently as Chair since September 2021. I have a long-standing interest in education, and have previously been a Parent/Co-opted Governor at a Comprehensive School in the north of England. 

On a personal note, I love birds, enjoy walking in the countryside and attend the local Parish Church, where I used to lead the Toddler Group. 

I am grateful for the dedication shown by staff, parents and pupils, and am proud of the school’s achievements. I am strongly committed to our school's vision, with its emphasis on the value of every pupil and the importance of shared community. 

I'm Michael, the Team Rector ("vicar") for the South Molton Benefice (which includes St Mary Magdalene Parish Church). I am an ex-officio Governor at the school, am involved in the Ethos Group, and also take part in Collective Worship and lead school services in church. Before becoming a vicar I worked as a GP and a Public Health Consultant in the north of England. 

I believe the underlying values and ethos of the school play an important part in helping it to provide a positive learning environment in which everyone is valued and pupils can flourish. The school has grown and developed significantly over the past few years, and I am excited as I look forward to the future.
